Bela Fleck was a man about town at last month’s Telluride Bluegrass Festival, sitting in during multiple sets on multiple stages throughout the weekend. No wonder — Fleck is more or less the Jimi Hendrix of the banjo and has redefined the term “master picker.” He’ll bring his original backing band, the Flecktones, to Denver Botanic Gardens on Sunday, creating music that’s far more adventurous than traditional bluegrass. Fitting, then, that the band members have no single home (they split their time among Brooklyn, N.Y., Washington, D.C. and Louisville, Ky.).
