TULSA, Okla.—Former Tulsa and Colorado head coach Kathy McConnell-Miller now is an assistant with the WNBA’s Tulsa Shock.

The Shock announced McConnell-Miller’s hiring Wednesday. She will join interim head coach Teresa Edwards for the rest of the season. Edwards assumed that role after Nolan Richardson resigned earlier this month.

McConnell-Miller coached at Tulsa from 1999 to 2005 and at Colorado from 2005 to 2010. Her first game with the Shock will be Tuesday at home against the Atlanta Dream.

McConnell-Miller says she’s excited to return to Tulsa and she’s looking forward to coaching with Edwards, whom she calls “one of the greatest players ever to play basketball.”

Edwards says McConnell-Miller will “put the fun back in basketball in Tulsa.”
