The Lafayette City Council has given tentative approval to an ordinance that would ban street side solicitors.
The ban would prohibit anyone from staying on a median longer than is necessary to cross the road.
Police Chief Rick Bashor tells the Boulder Daily Camera his department proposed the rule, which is based on one passed by Boulder eight years ago. Bashor says the city is concerned someone will get hurt or killed.
The ordinance faces a second reading.
