A 36-year-old Longmont man accused of stabbing his roommate on June 3 waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Boulder County Court on Monday.

Timothy James O’Connor is scheduled to enter a plea on attempted murder, assault and robbery charges on Sept. 2.

O’Connor is accused of stabbing his former roommate, Tom Bever, 62, twice outside the home they shared at 1821 Tyler Ave. after Bever tried to evict O’Connor, according to police. Bever called 911 for help as he lay bleeding in his front yard and two neighbors tried to render aid. He told police that O’Connor stabbed him, took money from him, then fled on a bike.

Bever told dispatchers that O’Connor stabbed him 10 times, but doctors found two stab wounds and several broken ribs.

It took police 13 hours to track and arrest O’Connor, who is being held on a $500,000 bond at the Boulder County Jail.
