FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A fire has destroyed a horse laboratory at Colorado State University but no people or horses were injured.
The Poudre Fire Authority says the flames were reported at the Equine Reproduction Laboratory 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
CSU spokeswoman Dell Rae Moellenberg says 20 to 30 horses were moved from nearby buildings to protect them from smoke injuries but were not in danger.
Moellenberg tells the Fort Collins Coloradoan all the horses belonged to clients.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Moellenberg says 12 to 15 staff and faculty work at the lab. She says the lab’s work will go on elsewhere but it’s not known whether any research data was affected.
