Nine years later, the Miami Dolphins have again traded for a New Orleans Saints running back who won the Heisman Trophy.

This time it’s Reggie Bush.

The Dolphins finalized a trade for Bush on Thursday by negotiating a new two-year contract for nearly $10 million with him, a person familiar with the talks said. The person confirmed the agreement to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the teams had yet to announce the deal.

It wasn’t known what the Saints would receive in the trade, first reported by .

Miami acquired former Heisman winner Ricky Williams from the Saints in 2002, with mixed results. He won an NFL rushing title with the Dolphins, but they haven’t won a playoff game since that trade.

Bush was due about $11.8 million this season, the final year of his Saints contract. It would have been difficult for them to justify paying that given their salary cap constraints.

Redskins ship Haynesworth to N.E.

The Albert Haynesworth saga is finally over in Washington.

A person familiar with the deal says the disgruntled defensive tackle was shipped to the New England Patriots on Thursday for a 2013 fifth-round draft pick, a relatively small piece of compensation for a two-time All-Pro with one of the most lucrative contracts in NFL history.

Haynesworth has been a constant headache for the Redskins since signing a seven-year, $100 million contract as a free agent in 2009. The deal included a then-record $41 million in guaranteed money.

Last year, Haynesworth constantly feuded with coach Mike Shanahan and was suspended for the final four games of the season.

Eagles snag DE Jason Babin

The Philadelphia Eagles have reached agreement on a five-year contract with Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Babin, who had a breakout season with Tennessee last year.

Babin played for the Eagles in 2009. He signed with the Titans in free agency and had a career-best 12.5 sacks playing under defensive line coach Jim Washburn. He’s now reunited with Washburn, who joined the Eagles in the same role during the offseason.

The Eagles won’t be able to officially announce an agreement with Babin until Friday, but his

publicist Amanda Mitchell confirmed the deal to The Associated Press on Thursday.

Steelers cut Randle El

Antwaan Randle El, a hero of a Super Bowl victory, and veteran tackle Max Starks have been released by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Randle El, a college quarterback who became a receiver in the NFL, threw a touchdown pass to Hines Ward to clinch Pittsburgh’s win over Seattle in the 2006 Super Bowl. He had two stints with the Steelers and also played four seasons in Washington.

Starks was drafted by the Steelers in the third round (75th overall) in 2004. He started 68 games in his seven seasons in Pittsburgh, including seven in 2010 before being placed on injured reserve with a neck problem. Starks started two Super Bowls for the Steelers.
