KIOWA, Colo.—Elbert County commissioners are postponing action on a proposal to build a 150-mile pipeline to bring Arkansas River water from Lamar to Elbert County.
Under plans by C & A Development Co., water from the Arkansas River would be pumped to the county southeast of Denver.
The company asked for a 30-day delay to get more public review.
The plan would expand the reach of a small local water district to the entire state, which could change the region’s landscape, according to the Denver Post.
