BOULDER, Colo.—A Boulder County employee is under investigation for sending an email to adoptive parents that may have taken a political stand on Medicaid.

The email from Sharon Sawyer included an advocacy group’s “Call to Action” against potential Medicaid cuts. The call was from the Colorado Coalition of Adoptive Families, in which that group warned of the impacts of capping such benefits or of converting federal Medicaid money into block grants to the states.

The email included similar warnings from The ARC of Colorado and had links for contacting both of Colorado’s U.S. senators and all seven of the state’s U.S. House members.

Boulder County Housing and Human Services director Frank Alexander tells the Daily Camera that the email is under investigation and called it a “personnel matter.”
