CHEYENNE, Wyo.—A 57-year-old cowboy from McAlester, Okla., won both the senior and professional steer roping at Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo Sunday just days after his mother died.

Rocky Garnett claimed his third buckle at the “Daddy of ’em All” by posting a 19.3 second time in the finals for a total time of 49 seconds.

Garnett’s mother died Thursday.

Other finals winners at Frontier Days were: Casey Colletti, of Pueblo, Colo., in bareback riding; Jerrad Hofstetter, of Portales, N.M., in tie-down roping; Jesse Bail, of Camp Crook, S.D., in saddle bronc; Jake Barnes, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Walt Woodard, of Stephenville, Texas, in team roping; Olin Hannum, of Malad, Idaho, in steer wrestling; Kim Schulze, of Elbert, Colo., in barrel racing; and Shane Proctor, of Grand Coulee, Wash., in bull riding.
