BLUE RIVER, Colo.—Blue River officials are considering adopting trails from the U.S. Forest Service because of budget cuts that are forcing closure of almost all the trails around the small community.
Mayor Lindsay Backas says the Board of Trustees is considering asking voters to approve a new town sales tax to keep the trails open.
According to the Summit Daily News ( ), Blue River does not have a commercial tax base and it does not currently charge a tax on residents’ utility bills.
