DENVER—The Denver district attorney has filed charges alleging a 6-year-old girl’s adoptive mother and the woman’s girlfriend abused the girl for years.
The district attorney’s office said Tuesday that 35-year-old Regina Marquez and 36-year-old Deanna Martinez are each charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.
The charges allege the abuse included isolation and physical depravation. Prosecutors say the girl also had a broken arm and broken fingers that were never treated.
Marquez and Martinez were arrested, with bond set at $50,000 for each. They are due in court Thursday to be formally advised of the charges.
