BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to contract terms Tuesday with veteran running back Ronnie Brown, who spent his first six seasons with the Dolphins.
The 29-year-old Brown rushed for 4,815 yards and 36 touchdowns and caught 184 passes for 1,491 yards with Miami.
Brown is the seventh major acquisition the Eagles have made in the past week, along with defensive linemen Jason Babin and Cullen Jenkins, cornerbacks Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Nnamdi Asomugha, offensive lineman Evan Mathis and quarterback Vince Young.
Before adding Brown, the Eagles’ only experienced running backs were starter LeSean McCoy, who ran for 1,080 yards and caught 70 passes last year, and Eldra Buckley, who has just 36 carries in two years with the Eagles.
Grossman back with Redskins
ASHBURN, Va. — Rex Grossman re-signed with Washington, setting the stage for his duel with John Beck for the starting quarterback job.
Grossman arrived at training camp Tuesday. He said he signed a one-year deal because he “wanted to see how this year played out.”
Grossman was an unrestricted free agent, but he indicated he didn’t seriously consider any team other than the Redskins.
Saints sign top pick
METAIRIE, La. — New Orleans agreed to terms with its top draft choice, defensive end Cameron Jordan, and veteran tight end David Thomas.
A person familiar with another deal told The Associated Press the Saints also agreed to a contract with defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin.
Jordan’s four-year deal is worth about $7.7 million, said his agent, Doug Hendricks.
The 6-foot-4, 287-pound Jordan, the son of former Pro Bowl tight end Steve Jordan, was taken 24th overall out of California.
In other moves.
After he showed up woefully out of shape after the summer-long lockout, the Vikings decided to cut ties with former No. 7 overall draft choice Bryant McKinnie.
The move will save the Vikings $5.4 million against the salary cap this season and help them get below the $120 million limit. The team signed free agent left tackle Charlie Johnson on Monday, paving the way for McKinnie’s exit.
• The Seahawks reached agreement on a reported five-year deal with former Raiders Pro Bowl tight end Zach Miller.
Also, Seattle agreed to terms with defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson.
• Phil Taylor, a rookie defensive tackle from Baylor, signed a contract with the Browns to end a four-day holdout. Taylor, the No. 21 overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, is expected to start in first-year Cleveland coach Pat Shurmur’s 4-3 system.
• The Colts signed their first-round pick, left tackle Anthony Castonzo, and also signed free-agent linebacker Ernie Sims, Detroit’s first- round pick in 2006. Castonzo was taken 22nd overall and is expected to protect quarterback Peyton Manning’s blind side.
• David Harris will be anchoring the New York Jets’ linebacking corps for at least four more years. The playmaking linebacker signed a new four-year deal.
• Running back Jerious Norwood agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Rams, who needed a backup for Steven Jackson.
Also, the Rams and linebacker Brady Poppinga, released by the Packers last week, agreed to terms on a one-year contract.
• The Bears and free-agent tight end Desmond Clark agreed to a one-year contract.
