LOVELAND, Colo.—A Loveland dog trainer has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after a witness told authorities that a dog was severely beaten.

Ryan Matthews was arrested Saturday and posted a $500 cash bond.

According to KMGH-TV ( ), Larimer County Humane Society investigators obtained a surveillance video taken inside the kennel that supported allegations of the beating. Matthews denied that he ever hit or kicked dogs during training.

A witness said Matthews slammed the dog’s muzzled nose into a wall, causing a hole and leaving blood on the carpet.
