COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach has ordered an independent investigation after a former director of finance accused a city official of covering up financial problems.
Terri Velasquez said chief of staff Steve Cox tried to cover up an overpayment of nearly $5,000 in his favor.
According to KKTV-TV (), Bach issued a statement Monday asking Velasquez to come forward with specific allegations and promised they will be investigated.
Bach and Cox issued a statement saying the complaints are without merit.
