BRIGHTON, Colo.—A Brighton employee who reported she was the victim of a robbery at City Hall has been charged with theft.

Bernadette Haigh told police cash and checks belonging to the city were taken.

Haigh was charged with theft, embezzlement and false reporting. Police say the reported robbery was a hoax and they believe she had an accomplice.

On Thursday, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for 35-year-old Quentin Rivera on charges of theft and embezzlement.
