Ween is the perfect special-occasion band. Bizarre, hilarious, intimidatingly talented, the Pennsylvania-bred duo — and whoever they’re playing with — craft soundtracks for life’s most absurd and celebratory moments. The band returns to Denver for a multinight New Year’s Eve stint at the Fillmore Auditorium. Tickets on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($37.50-$40 for Dec. 29-30; $75-$80 for Dec. 31; )
It’s been a rough week for big tours. In addition to Kings of Leon canceling their Aug. 31- Sept. 1 dates at Red Rocks Amphitheatre — apparently due to “vocal issues and exhaustion” — the hip-hop mega-duo the Throne (featuring Jay-Z and Kanye West) has indefinitely postponed its Oct. 10 show at the Pepsi Center. There are no plans to reschedule either show. Tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.
Last week, the Zac Brown Band played Cheyenne Frontier Days and announced a Sept. 5 date at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. If that’s still not enough of the Grammy-winning pop-country players, they just added a Sept. 6 show to their Red Rocks visit. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($44.50- $59.50, Ticketmaster)
Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All is one of the most controversial and written- about hip-hop groups in recent memory, and Front Range denizens will get a chance to see what the young L.A. shock-rap collective is all about when it visits Boulder’s Fox Theatre on Oct. 8 and the Ogden Theatre on Oct. 9. Tickets are on sale Saturday at noon and 10 a.m., respectively. ($25-$25.75, and Ticketmaster)
Duran Duran’s sold-out concert at the Ogden Theatre in April ensured a bigger venue next time around, so it’s no surprise the ’80s synth-rockers have booked an Oct. 4 set at the much-larger 1stBank Center, with opener Neon Trees. The price, however, may come with a bit of sticker shock. On sale at 10 a.m. today. ($39.50-$125, TicketHorse)
Brian Regan’s clean-but-clever comedy will return to Fort Collins for a pair of shows Feb. 23-24. Tickets for the Lincoln Center sets are on sale at noon Tuesday. ($46.50, )
