A Loveland fire authority is halfway approved.
To join the Loveland Fire and Rescue Department with the Loveland Rural Fire Protection District as an authority, both the City Council and the rural board must agree on the concept and approve an intergovernmental agreement.
Both have unanimously supported the concept.
The rural fire board took the second step Wednesday with unanimous approval of the intergovernmental agreement.
The City Council is scheduled to vote on the document later this month.
“I’m optimistic,” said Fire Chief Randy Mirowski. “We’ve got a great shot at this.”
