A second Brighton city employee was arrested today in connection with a robbery last Friday that police say was a hoax.

Bernadette Haigh, 41, a seven-year employee of the utilities department, was arrested earlier this week. She told police Friday was robbed of money meant for a bank deposit.

Instead, police suspect she took the cash and checks herself and gave them to an accomplice. The amount was not disclosed.

Today, police arrested 35-year-old Quentin Rivera, a city employee since October 2007.

He faces charges of felony theft and embezzlement.

Rivera is being held in the Adams County Detention Center on $2,500. Haigh remains in custody on $5,000 bond. She is being held on suspicion of felony theft, false reporting and conspiracy.
