Westbound U.S. 36 has reopened at Wadsworth Boulevard in Broomfield after a one-car rollover accident closed the highway for hours this morning.

The accident involved an older model blue SUV, which had two occupants. The driver walked away from the crash, but he and his passenger, who was ejected from the vehicle, were taken by ambulance to a Denver hospital. The severity of injuries to both is not yet known.

The SUV was attempting to change lanes when it hit a portion of raised asphalt, blew a tire and flipped, landing near the center median, said Broomfield Police Chief Tom Deland who arrived on the scene shortly after the accident.

U.S. 36 was closed around 10:30 a.m., when the accident happened, and reopened around 12:45 p.m.
