GREELEY, Colo.—The Weld County Humane Society says it’s in desperate need of cat food and money after dealing with a sixth cat hoarder in the last 18 months.
Some 60 cats were seized Thursday from the home of an elderly Greeley man. Greeley police say neighbor complaints prompted them to get a search warrant for the home.
The Coloradoan reports ( ) that a sign on the man’s door said the home wasn’t fit to live in. Furniture and other items from the house lined the side of the driveway. Police say the elderly man isn’t being charged.
Elaine Hicks of the Weld County Humane Society told the newspaper that 23 of the cats had to be euthanized and that the rest have filled every cage at the agency.
