Boulder cyclist Taylor Phinney finished fourth overall at the Eneco Tour of Benelux after crashing into the barriers in the final corner of Sunday’s final stage.
Phinney was not hurt and received the same time as stage winner Edvald Boasson Hagen, who also won the overall title. Phinney wound up 36 seconds behind Hagen in a race that saw the American win the prologue, hold the lead through Stage 3 and finish in the top 10 five times.
• Levi Leipheimer successfully defended his Tour of Utah title, locking onto Colombian Sergio Henao’s back wheel on the final climb.
Henao took the final stage and finished second overall. Tom Danielson and Christian Vande Velde of Boulder-based Garmin-Cervelo finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
Zahkai Brown rallies to win title.
Colorado State’s Zahkai Brown shot a final-round 5-under-par 66 to overcome a six-stroke deficit and win the Colorado Golf Association Stroke Play Championship at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora. Brown finished the tournament at 13-under 271. Third-round leader David Schroeder finished second. The former Fort Lewis golfer finished three strokes behind Brown.
