When riding the bus, passengers tend to drown out the world around them until their stop arrives. EcoArts Connections and the city of Boulder are trying to change that by introducing their new “bus birding” program.
Bus birding encourages riders to birdwatch while on the bus instead of checking their e-mail or talking on the phone.
The program is the first in the nation, according to EcoArts Connections. It will be featured on the Long Jump bus route from Boulder to Lafayette, with panels and brochures inside the bus providing a Boulder County bird guide.
There will be other resources, including a website and 13 bus-stop signs that will show what birds can be found at each stop.
