Road construction on 23rd Avenue between 32nd and 37th streets left business owners frustrated with the city of Evans on Monday.
“Nobody got any notice,” said Frank Sherman, manager of The Human Bean, 3310 23rd Ave. “They didn’t tell us in advance. They just showed up and shut our business down.”
The construction closed the northbound side of 23rd Avenue and reduced the southbound side to one lane each way. Several streets were closed with no access along the route, including 32nd Street.
“Our customers can’t get to us and we’re a small, independent company and every customer is dear to us and to our success,” Sherman said. “If our customers can’t get to The Human Bean, then they may go somewhere else. We could potentially lose customers.”
