BOULDER — Prosecutors say a woman accused of blowing heroin smoke on a cat that then died will not face animal-cruelty charges because a necropsy found no traces of the drug in the animal.

The Boulder Daily Camera reported Tuesday that prosecutors intend to drop charges against 21-year-old Danielle Blankenship during a hearing today.

Police arrested Blankenship last month during a domestic-violence call. Blankenship’s ex-boyfriend told police that his roommate’s cat was unresponsive because Blankenship had blown heroin smoke on its face.
