A Denver company dumping waste soil in the Eagle County landfill from its oil and gas drilling operations in Garfield County, was hit with a class action lawsuit the alleges health threats.

Antero Resources was sued in Denver District Court on behalf of all 5,000 residents of Battlement Mesa, in western Garfield County. The lawsuit alleges that Antero’s drilling operations threaten their health and well being.

The lawsuit is the second filed against Antero by residents of that area. A Silt Mesa family sued Antero in March, contending that Antero’s contaminants and fumes drove them from their home.
