The parade is part of Western Welcome Week, an annual celebration organized by Western Welcome Week, Inc. Now in it's 82 year, this years theme is "Honoring Our Heritage."  The 11-day celebration includes over  40 events, benefitting dozens of local non-profit organizations.  The first record of the the event is on July 21, 1928, when Littleton Independent editor Houstoun Waring held a celebration of the paper's 40th anniversary. The following year the community celebrated the 100th anniversary of the birth of town founder, Richard S. Little.
