Ex-teacher and wrestling coach Travis Masse’s inappropriate behavior toward female students dates back to 2001, and officials turned a blind eye to it for years, according to a federal lawsuit filed by three former Broomfield High students against the school and the Boulder Valley School District.

The complaint alleges that school and district employees violated the civil rights of the girls to “receive an education without being subject to discrimination based on their gender.”

The complaint and request for a jury trial — filed Aug. 11 in U.S. District Court in Denver on behalf of three female students named only as Jane Does — alleges the plaintiffs “were the victims of a sustained pattern of sexual harassment, unlawful sexual contact and sexual misconduct” committed by Masse “over a period of multiple school years.”
