Firefighters in Greeley worked battled a fire this morning at an industrial building.

The Greeley Fire Department got the call at 6:29 a.m. of a fire at 1133 Ash Ave.

The first firefighters to respond saw heavy smoke and flames visible from a wastewater treatment plant that is under construction.

Fire crews saw the smoke plume from a significant distance, according to a media release from the department.

A total of nine fire department units and about 30 personnel ultimately responded.

Firefighters also used an aerial ladder truck in oder to gain access to the fire, concentrated on the roof.

It took crews about 45 minutes to take control of the fire, and they remained on scene another four hours, working to expose and extinguish more roofing materials on fire.

No injuries were reported, and the damage has still not been calculated.

Officials believe the fire was accidental, started by welding operations taking place as part of the construction.
