Talk about giving a guy some breathing room. The Rockies’ five-run first inning came six days after they scored six runs in the first inning of Jhoulys Chacin’s previous start against Houston. The 11 first-inning runs were one more than the Rockies scored in the first inning of Chacin’s first 25 starts.

Streaking.

So it is that Carlos Gonzalez’s RBI streak ended at 11 games. He fell six games short of tying the major- league record of 17 by the Cubs’ Ray Grimes in 1922.

Home again.

Kevin Kouzmanoff, on the prospect of resurrecting his career in his home state of Colorado: “It’s about production, doing my part to help the team win.” Kouzmanoff did his part Sunday with four RBIs.
