FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Authorities in Fort Collins are trying to find ways to keep college parties from getting out of hand after more than 2,000 people showed up for a back-to-school party at an apartment complex.

Four people, including two Colorado State University football players, were arrested. Ten people were taken to the hospital on Saturday, most of them for overconsumption of alcohol or minor injuries.

Police Chief Jerry Schiager tells the Fort Collins Coloradoan () it’s too early to tell whether apartment complex managers will be cited for violating the city’s nuisance gathering ordinance.

Apartment owners say they regret the incident. They say they hired security guards and police and shut the party down early when it got out of hand.
