Fun factor? In full bloom

The theme for the Denver Botanic Gardens’ signature fundraiser, Fete des Fleurs, was “Celebrate Native Beauty.” A committee headed by Katie Fox Wolfe did a marvelous job of blending sights, sounds and tastes for this late-summer soiree that Brian Vogt, the DBG’s chief executive, described as “our best yet.” Joanne Davidson was there and in her Seen First blog shares details of what the 440 guests wore, ate and enjoyed: .

Bidding farewell to summer

Our current toasty temps make it hard to believe that it won’t be long before things cool down and we’ll be trading sundresses and sandals for wool coats and boots. The Urban League of Metropolitan Denver helped bid a farewell to the season by hosting a Summer White Party on Saturday night at Green Gables Country Club. Denver Mayor Michael Hancock was among the 200-plus who were there to enjoy cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and tunes spun by DJ Regina Johnson. The money raised will support the Urban League’s various employment, education and outreach programs.
