ARLINGTON, Texas — AL West-leading Texas made two trades Wednesday to strengthen its roster for the stretch run, acquiring reliever Mike Gonzalez and bringing back catcher Matt Treanor.
Treanor was with the Rangers last season and set a career high with 82 games played. Texas traded him to Kansas City at the end of spring training for cash, then got him back from the Royals for cash.
Gonzalez was 2-2 with a 4.27 ERA in 49 relief appearances for Baltimore, which traded the Texas native to the Rangers for a player to be named.
Braves acquire Wilson from Mariners
ATLANTA — The Braves acquired infielder Jack Wilson and cash considerations from the Mariners for a player to be named.
Wilson was hitting .249 in 62 games for Seattle and has been on the 15-day disabled list since Aug. 19 because of a bruised left heel.
Giants designate Tejada, Rowand for assignment
SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants designated outfielder Aaron Rowand and infielder Miguel Tejada for assignment.
The Giants recalled outfielder Pat Burrell (foot) from a rehab assignment and purchased the contract of infielder Brett Pill from Triple-A Fresno.
