Fashion kingpin Karl Lagerfeld, best known for creating the Chanel couture and ready-to-wear collections in Paris, is now being featured in selected Macy’s stores across the country. For his collaboration with the department store chain, he’s bringing such signature touches as high starched collars (see above), tweedy fabrics and sleek tailoring to dress and sportswear looks that will sell on average for about $50 to $170. On the casual side are T-shirts and leggings, while a group of black dresses and a tuxedo design with pintucking are more suited to office and evening occasions. Nicole Fischelis, Macy’s fashion director, says she expects this line to appeal to contemporary customers and others who want a “distinctive, personalized look.” As with its earlier collaborations with Matthew Williamson and Kinder Aggugini, Macy’s will feature the line for a limited time. And still to come later in the fall is a line from Giambattista Valli. For the holiday season, all the designers will produce gift items. The Lagerfeld line is at Cherry Creek Shopping Center; Park Meadows, Lone Tree; Twenty Ninth Street, Boulder; and .
