A teenager has been arrested in Colorado Springs as a suspect in an armed robbery.
At about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday police responded to an armed robbery at a Radio Shack, 4090 Austin Bluffs Parkway, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department crime blotter.
Witnesses told police a black man, about 18, had entered the store “demanding merchandise” while brandishing a handgun. The robber ran from the store and headed north.
Officer Dan Thompson discovered video from a nearby business showing a suspect getting out of a car just prior to the robbery.
Thompson used the video and statements from witnesses to track a suspect to the Pinnacle Apartments, 6300 Council Point, the blotter said.
Police surrounded an apartment, identified a 17-year-old as the suspect and talked with people inside.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence and police said a handgun, matching the description of the one used in the robbery, was found along with stolen merchandise.
The name of the teen was not released.
