Colorado Springs native and University of Northern Colorado graduate R.W. Eaks posted a second-round 6-under par 66 to take a two-stroke lead after Thursday’s second round at the HealthOne Colorado Senior Open at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver.
Eaks’ scorecard included seven birdies and just one bogey over the 6,819-yard, par-72 layout, three strokes better than first-round leader Jim Kane of Edmond, Okla., who was in second.

The Colorado Mines women’s soccer team won its season opener 3-2 in overtime against host Eastern New Mexico in Portales, N.M.
Orediggers junior Megan Woodworth scored the game-winner in the 95th minute on an assist from junior teammate Aubrey Bagley. CSM also received goals from sophomore Kelsey Neal and senior Erin Onat. Mines senior Penny Rogers made her second career start in goal and picked up her second career win. She made one save.
The Orediggers will play their home opener at noon Sunday at the CSM Soccer Field against Upper Iowa University.
