BOISE, Idaho — A man was sentenced Friday to life in prison for torturing his girlfriend’s 8-year-old son, then killing him and trying to cover up the murder by stuffing rocks in the boy’s pockets and dumping the body in a canal.
Daniel Ehrlick, 38, was convicted in June and will not have the possibility of parole. The boy’s mother, Melissa Jenkins, also was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison for her role in the 2009 slaying.
