Dumb Friends League Wag ‘n’ Trail

Sept. 17: The seventh annual 1.6-mile hike is a fundraiser for the League’s Buddy Center. Hike the trail at your own pace with your dog between 8 a.m. and noon. There is no registration fee; participants are encouraged to collect pledges. Those who raise $75 or more in pledges receive a T-shirt, ice cream, dog biscuits and a photo. Race Across Africa

Through Sept. 30: A 4,132-mile virtual race where participants do what they usually do (walking, running, biking, etc.) and then log their miles on the website and follow other team’s progress up the Nile River. Deadline Wednesday: Registration is open for the incremental running program designed for kids to train for a 26.2-mile marathon. Colorado 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Red Rocks

Sunday: Firefighters and members of the community are invited to this climb equaling the distance of 110 stories, the height of the World Trade Center’s twin towers. The route begins at the upper south parking lot and takes participants around nine counter- clockwise laps in the amphitheater. Run for Remembrance

MEND 7-13 Program

Sept. 13: Denver YMCA has received a grant from the Colorado Health Foundation for a new program to promote healthy eating and living for ages 7-13. MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do it) is a free 10-week program. Sessions are held twice a week for two hours with the child and their family. S.W.
