Getting your player ready...
If the Rockies were going to broom the Padres, their left-handed hitters needed to deliver. That’s because Mat Latos has absolutely owned right-handers of late. Eliezer Alfonzo’s seventh-inning single snapped an 0-for-26 drought by right-handers. Latos has held righties to a .135 average (17-for-126) over his last 13 starts.
Road weary.
The Rockies finished the road trip 3-6 and haven’t had a winning trip since April.
Relief issues.
Matt Lindstrom is trying to regain his health and his role. But he has scuffled since allowing five runs (two earned) in 3 1/3 innings since returning from the disabled list (arm) nine games ago.
