Vin Scully, a young 83, will return in 2012 for his 62nd year of broadcasting Dodgers baseball.
He made the announcement during the Aug. 26 game with the Rockies, which Los Angeles won 6-1. Maybe his announcement inspired the team.
• Joe Buck, Fox Sports’ main play-by-play talent on Major League Baseball and the NFL, continues to battle back from a virus that in February struck the laryngeal nerve in his left vocal chord.
His raspy voice has improved, and he expects to be in the NFL booth Sunday.
Buck, admitting he was fearful his broadcasting career was over, told The New York Times, “It’s a question of being patient and riding it out.”
