A small fire caused by a barbecue damaged an Erie home and sent one person to the hospital on Monday.
Erie Police Cpl. Phil Lukens said the fire broke out at about 5 p.m. at a house at 1398 Reliance Court.
The fire started in the grill and spread to the side of the house, he said. The fire broke into the house where it damaged a wall and a couch.
Neighbors jumped the fence and fought the flames with a hose from the outside as the homeowner doused the fire inside the house. They were able to get the flames out before the fire department arrived.
One woman was sent to the hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation, Lukens said.
