Commuters in northern Englewood might want to avoid downtown next week as construction begins on South Broadway.
On Sept. 12 construction will begin on a street overlay project, and major delays are expected on the thoroughfare, according to a news release from the City of Englewood.
Construction will stretch in both directions on South Broadway between Dartmouth Avenue and Hampden Avenue. Crews will begin working at 8:30 a.m. and go through 3 p.m.
Construction is scheduled to last through Friday.
At least one lane of traffic will be open in both directions. Drivers are strongly urged to use alternative routes.
