
Toasting Denver’s Tudors
From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. today, Denver’s Old House Society hosts one of its seasonal “Sidewalk Strolls” through the Bellevue/ Hale neighborhood near Rose Medical Center. These guided walking tours illuminate the architecture, character, newsworthy residents and historic tidbits around the city’s oldest communities. Tickets are $15 each or $20 for this stroll and the remaining 2011 Sidewalk Stroll (on Oct. 22 in the Baker neighborhood. Creative kin
Design geeks tend to be birds of a feather who flock together. So it comes as little surprise when art, design and architecture firms cluster within walking distance of one another. That’s happened in Boulder along a corridor that’s been dubbed the 15th Street Design District. Located on 15th Street between Canyon Boulevard and Arapahoe Avenue, the handful of design businesses there throw open their doors from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday for an open house. This is a chance to mingle with the architects, interior and kitchen designers, building contractors and graphic/web designers who are shaping Boulder’s design identity. More at .
Are you ready for some football decor?
Those of us for whom football season serves as consolation for the end of summer may want to tune into “Man Caves” on the DIY Network on Sunday evening. This show, co-hosted by NFL icon Tony “The Goose” Siragusa and licensed contractor Jason Cameron, is devoted to men and their customized personal spaces. Sunday, the show spotlights New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott and the effort to transform a room in his New Jersey home into the ultimate guys hangout. Beyond child’s play
Six playhouses built for the 2011 Parade of Homes, which ended on Labor Day, are still on display this week before being auctioned off Friday to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado. The playhouses can be seen at Silver Creek, 591 Cordova Court, Lafayette; Erie Commons, 147 Maxwell Circle, Erie; Vista Ridge, 1577 Hickory Drive, Erie; North Creek Farms, 16693 Humboldt St., Thornton; Sorrel Ranch, 5669 S.
