No. 14-ranked Colorado State won its Rams Volleyball Classic on Saturday night at Moby Arena.
The Rams (6-2) defeated Northern Colorado 3-0 (25-23, 28-26, 25-20), led by double-digit kills from Brieon Paige and Katelyn Steffan.
“I think UNC is a good volleyball program, and I’m really pleased with this win because I felt like we showed some pretty good competitive moments throughout the course of this match,” CSU coach Tom Hilbert said in a release.
CSU, UNC and Wichita State all finished 2-1 to tie for first place. In a tiebreaker, Wichita State was eliminated first because it lost more sets than CSU and UNC, which each lost four sets. CSU’s win over UNC gave it that tiebreaker over the Bears and the title. The Bears dropped to 6-4.
• Colorado (4-3) beat Fordham 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-13) and lost to Albany 3-0 (22-25, 21-25, 18-25). at the Rose Hill Classic at Fordham University in New York.
The Buffs finish the tournament this morning against St. John’s.
• Denver (2-8) dropped consecutive matches for the second consecutive day, falling to Drake 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 22-25, 12-15) and Missouri 3-0 (23-25, 18-25, 22-25) in the final day of the Pioneer Classic.
