El Paso County authorities might need several weeks to determine the identity and cause of death of a woman whose decomposed body was discovered Sunday by a Black Forest property owner.

Investigators don’t know how long the body had been there.

“We are seeking assistance from the El Paso County community in identifying this party,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a press release this afternoon. “The body was in advanced stages of decomposition, which is makes identification of the victim challenging.”

Information about the location of the body and other details of the scene are not being released at this time, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

The woman is described as white, about 5 feet, 3 inches tall and had no scars, marks or tattoos that might help identify her.

She did have dental work, including one crown, a lower retainer and fillings.

Sheriff’s investigators have found no missing people who fit her description.

Anyone with information can call El Paso County Detective Bill Otto at 719-520-7189 or the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office at 719-390-5555.
