The Salvation Army is assuming operations of an emergency-assistance center for the poor that was recently closed by Catholic Charities.

The Aurora Community Assistance Center, 13000 S. Potomac St., recently reopened as The Salvation Army Aurora Cares Center.

The Salvation Army plans to relocate the center in a few months to its Aurora Corps Community Center, 802 Quari Court. A grant from the Kenneth King Foundation has made it possible to keep operating the center and renovate at Quari Court.
