Denver police are seeking witnesses to an attack by a gang of teens on four men in the area of 16th and Arapahoe streets Sunday and want to talk to two victims who fled.

As many as 15 black and Latino young people, some of them girls, jumped the four as they were waiting for a ride at about 10:45 p.m. None have yet been arrested.

The victims were white men ranging in age from late 20s to 40. Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said investigators don’t know if the attack was racially motivated.

“Right now we have an assault and if there is a racial motivation the DA will take that into account,” Jackson said.

Two of the victims left the scene before police arrived and police want to contact them to gather more information about the incident, Jackson said.

“No one was seriously injured but we don’t want this to happen. We want to be able to address it right away,” said Jackson.

Anyone who might have witnessed the incident or has additional information about it should call Crime Stoppers 720-913-STOP (7867), or text: 274637 (CRIMES) then title DMCS & enter a message.
