DENVER—A Denver jury has convicted a former Air Force airman of first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend, who also was in the Air Force.
Jurors convicted 25-year-old Robert Walters on Friday in the death of Brittney Brashers in 2009. Investigators alleged he punched and choked her, then staged a car wreck to make it look like she had died in a traffic accident.
Jurors acquitted Walters of a separate charge of trying to hire someone to kill his ex-wife, who was a witness in the case.
Walters faces life in prison without parole at a sentencing hearing scheduled Oct. 24.
