LAKEWOOD, Colo.—One man has died after an 8-foot berm at a house that was under construction in Lakewood collapsed onto workers.
West Metro Fire Operations Chief Mike Murphy says the earthen wall completely buried one man and partially buried another man up to about his knees Friday afternoon. Other workers were trying to dig out the buried man when firefighters arrived.
Murphy said the buried man was taken to a hospital, but he did not survive. The victim was described as a Hispanic man, about 40 years old. Other information wasn’t available.
The other man did not require hospitalization.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
