Hotel stays in Longmont are down, meaning less money coming into the Longmont Area Visitors Association through the city’s 2 percent pillow tax.
Through July, the most recent numbers available from the city’s finance department, lodging tax revenues are down nearly 12 percent compared with the same period a year ago.
In July alone, revenues were off 26 percent compared with July 2010, but there’s a simple explanation for that: Heaven Fest, which drew thousands to Longmont, was last July.
Looking at July 2010 compared with the previous year, Heaven Fest helped boost lodging tax revenues nearly 49 percent.
