The Rockies project Jhoulys Chacin as a No. 2 starter, if not a future ace. And at times, he’s pitched like it. Other times, not so much. Tuesday’s start was Chacin’s 30th. In his first 15 starts, he was 8-4, with 99 2/3 innings, a 2.71 ERA, 88 strikeouts and 40 walks. In his next 15, he was 3-9, with 87 1/3 innings, a 4.74 ERA, 59 strikeouts and 46 walks.
A waste vs. the West.
Tuesday’s loss dropped the Rockies to 27-40 vs. the National League West. They’re .500 (43-43) against the NL East and Central and in interleague play.
Movin’ on down.
With A-listers Todd Helton, Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez sidelined, Dexter Fowler made his first career start in the three hole. Fowler doubled in the ninth.
